Touch of gold

Just a mini blog this week as I have decided to change the format. The new plan is to do a weekly round up, every Sunday night. So that will start next week!

Just a few pics to rave about my love (like most girls) for Barry M. After years of working in hospitality and being unable to paint my nails, my office job got all the more better when I realised nail polish was good to go again!

My current favourite combo is Barry M Gold Foil Effect with their black Black Crackle stuff over the top. Whack a bit of top coat and they last for days with no chips, and look really cool.

These incredible gold sparkly shellac nails were done by my lovely friend Victoria at Christmas, they were AMAZING and just perfect for the festive season.

They matched perfectly with the Quality Street and Pigs in Blankets I surrounded myself in for a week.

Here is a little bit more nail love for this Sunday evening.

Stripetastic

I love stripes.

I love stripey tops, trousers, dresses, hats, coats. I really love them.

We choose to ignore that the stripe might have been *slightly* tainted by that performance with Robin Thicke and the ever subtle Miley Cyrus.

Instead, I personally channel my inner Beetlejuice... ta daaaa!

Luckily for me, and the many other stripe adorers out there the high street loves  them as well, last years prediction that they would be everywhere has come true!

My current faves being a pair of Jeans from the masters of affordable fashion that are H&M

In a magical world, this incredible outfit from Milly would be mine. I love the colours, the stripes, the matching skirt - its all brilliant!

How many circle skirts is too many circle skirts?

Last summer I was completely obsessed with circle skirts, Vivien of Holloway circle skirts in particular.

I first came across Vivien of Holloway when my friend got married a few years ago, a 50's (ish) themed wedding she had all her bridesmaids and flower girls in Vivien dresses.

NB: When your mates get married, its properly fun <3

I have never fully embraced 50's style fashion, only leaning towards certain parts of it, like I love a good waist belt for instance, but when I discovered these skirts I could not stop buying them. Once a month (payday) for four months last summer I brought myself a new Viv skirt and swirled around Brighton for a few weeks before getting another. At £49.00 each they are a bit of an investment, but are so beautifully made and just really rather lovely...totally worth it.

Eventually I realised that there was such a thing as *to many* circle skirts...and this Pintrest board has kept me more than amused ever since.

Double D's and the 90's

I am in love with the 90's look that has taken over the highstreet at the moment.

When I was in the actual 1990's I was more concerned with being a toddler than the fashion - although I did rock the strappy dress/t-shirt underneath at school, much to my 'pro uniform' teachers distress.

I am pretty sure that if I had been a teenager in the 90's I would have embodied the look of the girls in The Craft/Clueless perfectly, alas as an actual teenager it was more chav than anything else but ey, you live and learn, right.

Had to lop off my head to show the DM's

Having now finally worn in my Dr. Martins - they are now like walking on clouds - and purchased my amazing Silence & Noise duster coat from Urban Oufitters means I have two really great staple items to strut about in. I have thoroughly enjoyed stomping around Brighton this winter wearing them both. Jeans are old Topshop ones.

Was also really pleased to see this in The Guardian.

I have been rocking the Double D's (denim dunga's obvs) myself this week, and although I don't really read or follow fashion mags its always nice to have a little confirmation that you are somewhat on trend and not dressing like a numpty.

The first is the worst

So this is my very first blog post. I have thought about doing a blog for a long time, but basically felt like a bit of a dickhead doing it. Tonight however I am armed with a glass of wine and severe cabin fever after being ill for a few days...this coupled with a rumour I heard that this ol' blog community are quite nice has spurred me on to finally set a proper one up.

Like a million other blogs, this will be full of trivial yet charmingly instagrammed photos I carefully select and put up showing me and my pretty normal life. Read, share, judge (seriously, go for it) - I will never be as sad as that dog...might occasionally be as smug as the other one though, depending on how good my outfit is.
